Hygiene Therapy in Torquay
For a healthy mouth, excellent oral hygiene is the number one factor. People often think that just brushing twice a day is enough to keep their teeth and mouth clean, but bacteria can slip by unnoticed, and can eventually cause tooth loss and gum disease.
Be it bad breath or serious health concerns, hygiene therapy at Avenue Dental Practice can help you achieve excellent oral hygiene and support health concerns.
What Does Hygiene Therapy Involve?
Regular hygiene therapy appointments are important for the following reasons:
- Preventing gum disease
- Remove stains caused by food and drink
- General oral health quality
- Dietary advice
- Decay prevention
- Brushing advice
- Flossing techniques
- Managing bad breath
- Advice on tooth erosion
At a hygiene therapy session, you’ll have your teeth and gums completely cleaned. This includes removing any plaque on your teeth, polishing your teeth to ensure they’re nice and white and also removing any tartar to prevent gum disease. This is done with the help of various instruments and an ultrasonic scaler.
The goal of a hygiene therapy session is not only to clean your teeth but to remove any underlying active diseases that could be ruining the quality and health of your teeth. In addition to cleaning your teeth, your hygienist will teach you a variety of techniques to help ensure that you’re keeping your mouth clean at home.
It’s recommended that you have your teeth cleaned professionally by a hygienist at least twice a year. However, if you feel like your teeth are particularly neglected, then it’s recommended to increase it to three or even four times a year.
